Exploring understudied aspects of antimicrobial resistance

This project, funded through a NERC Responsive Mode grant and supported by the Environment Agency and Roche, aims to generate the largest publicly available database of the lowest antibiotic concentrations that increase AMR, both for individual compounds and environmental antibiotic mixtures in bacterial communities.

It will explore impacts of evolutionary (exposure) history, to better understand the potential efficacy of future mitigation strategies in different environments.

The £812,000 NERC grant funds the project for three years from May 2022, with Dr Aimee Murray as Principal Investigator. Prof Will Gaze, Prof Angus Buckling, Dr Mario Recker, and the University of Bath’s Prof Barbara Kasprzyk-Hordern are Co-Investigators.
