Xinyu Yang is a PhD student specialising in biophilic design in the built environment.

Her current research investigates how immersive indoor landscapes can enhance cognitive performance in work settings. Her work is grounded in a broader interest in how sensory-based landscape design can foster environmental connectedness and support mental restoration.

This research direction was affirmed in Xinyu’s professional practice, where she proposed incorporating the Perceived Sensory Dimensions framework into urban pocket park design standards to promote psychological restoration.

She completed her master’s in landscape architecture at University College London in 2022. After graduating, she worked as a landscape designer, where she contributed to key projects such as the development of urban pocket park regeneration guidelines in China.
