Siyu Wang is a PhD student researching how indoor air quality can impact health.
Her focus is on small particulate matter – tiny forms of air pollution, made from a range of chemicals, that can be easily inhaled.
Siyu’s work centres specifically on PM2.5, investigating both its indoor concentration and composition. She is using portable air sampling sensors to collect PM2.5 concentrations and analyse the chemical composition to better understand the potential toxicity and sources of indoor pollutants.
Her research is also considering how factors such as housing characteristics, household behaviours, and health status can affect health and wellbeing.
Siyu completed her Master’s studies on pollution and environmental control at the University of Manchester. She then worked at the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre on PM2.5 monitoring and equivalency methods.
