Dr Helen Underhill

Dr Helen Underhill is an anthropologist with an interest in socio-cultural relationships with water and equitable water governance.

Her research engages social and cultural relationships with water as key to successful adaptation strategies for a near future shaped by anthropogenic climate change.

Helen has previously worked on the stakeholder co-creation of Digital Twins for Flood Risk Management (FLOODTWIN, University of the West of England – UWE Bristol), and project managed a workstream on valuing water within the UKRI GCRF Water Security and Sustainable Development Hub (Newcastle University).

Helen studied fine art at Falmouth University before completing a PhD in anthropology and sociology at SOAS, University of London.
