Andy Shipley

Research Assistant

  • a.shipley@exeter.ac.uk

Andy joined ECEHH in July 2023 as a research assistant on the UKRI-funded ‘Sensing Climate’ project (www.sensing-climate.com), examining the intersection of climate change adaptation and disability at the local, national and international levels.

Prior to joining the University, Andy spent over 20 years in the field of disability equality, working for the Disability Rights Commission and the Equality and Human rights Commission, with a spell in the Department of Communities and Local Government, advising on the development of housing strategy for an aging society.

More latterly, Andy has focussed his efforts on creating inclusive experiences in the natural world, working as a partner in a number of ECEHH projects, including Sensing Nature (2016-2018), Nature Narratives (2017-2018), Re-Storying Landscapes for Social Inclusion (2020-2022) the Unlocking Landscapes Network (2020-2023).

In addition to his work with the University, Andy continues his work as a Nature Connection Practitioner, leading sensory immersion experiences in a range of natural settings. You can read more about this work online: https://www.natural-inclusion.org/
