Photographers interpret environment and health research

Posted on 22nd March 2013

Photography students from Truro and Penwith College have been exhibiting work this week which was inspired by the environment and health.

The students are studying on the College’s FdA Action Photography course, and were given a brief by Photographer and Programme Leader Andy Hughes to explore the core themes of the European Centre’s research.

The resulting images take on several interpretations including self-portraits and a video – as well as more abstract forms.

Course leader Andy Hughes said “The students have really responded in a creative and intuitive manner to the brief they were given, with a real variety of work on show.”

Director at the European Centre, Professor Lora Fleming said “This is the second year we’ve set this brief and what really interests me is how these images are completely different to last year’s. I’m intrigued by the pictures of people in the environment – including in the occupational setting. I also really like the use of hearts and blood.”

The show runs at the Knowledge Spa on the Royal Cornwall Hospital site until Monday 25th March.
