Dr Aritra Chakrabarty is a postdoctoral research associate whose research is situated at the intersection of gender, social justice, and equity in energy transition.
His work focuses on equity of outcomes from the renewable energy transitions, with emphasis on rural geographies of the Global South undergoing energy transition. Aritra draws on scholarship on socio-technical studies and critical theory.
Aritra completed his PhD at the Michigan Technological University in environment and energy policy in 2025. Prior to his PhD, he worked in India in sustainability consulting and the development sector for eight years.
He completed his Masters in Economics in 2013 from Symbiosis International University.
