Charlie Loweth

PhD Student

  • cl1120@exeter.ac.uk

Charlie Loweth is a paramedic, educator, and researcher focused on public health, sustainability, and paramedic practice.

His research focuses on paramedic education, public health, and sustainability, with a particular interest in climate and biodiversity literacy.

Charlie is exploring how environmental content can be integrated into the curriculum to prepare future practitioners for climate-related health challenges, while also examining the role of green space in student wellbeing and strategies for building a resilient, sustainable healthcare workforce.

He began his career with the Scottish Ambulance Service in 2012 before becoming a HCPC-registered paramedic. In 2020, he moved into higher education at Robert Gordon University, focusing on public health and sustainability in paramedic education.

Following an unconventional but rewarding route into academia, Charlie achieved a PGCert in 2023, SFHEA in 2024, and began his PhD in 2025 on integrating climate and sustainability into practice.
