At the ECEHH Karlijn Arbouw is currently working on the Healthy Places project. The project is in collaboration with a number of organisations based in the Dorset region. We aim to produce applied research which can translate into public policy with the goal of improving health and well-being outcomes. Karlijn’s work will focus on access to green infrastructure in both urban and rural areas and how this can be quantified and improved, to maximise the potential health and well-being benefits for the communities in Dorset.
Karlijn undergraduate degree was in Global Public Health and Sustainability at Leiden University College The Hague. This interdisciplinary program focused on the relationships between the environment and human health. Her Bachelor’s thesis investigated green space accessibility for building a healthier city in Breda, a city in the Netherlands. This study was conducted together with the municipality of Breda. This research is very relevant to the study the project is conducting at the moment for Public Health Dorset.
