Darren Stevens is responsible for the successful installation of sensors into coastline homes and the data collection, overseeing and managing contractors as part of the Smartline Project. He ensures the data collected is quality assured, and successfully integrated with other open data-sets, under the guidance of the Smartline research team. He provides data security advice and support, and safeguarding that data released is compliant with current data protection regulations are in place to provide participants anonymity.
Darren has worked in the computing, education and research sector for the last 20 years. For most of that time he was custodian of the Continuous Plankton Recorder Database the world’s most geospatially and temporally extensive marine biological data-set. His technical knowledge is mainly focused around SQL server, but he has experience of emerging technologies, such as the NOSQL, and programming skills in .NET, Python, and Ruby. Darren is also a qualified Mathematics Teacher, and still has a keen interest in the education sector as a whole.
